- Gastric Bypass Surgery
- gastric bypass problems and complications?
Complications from gastric bypass include many things, up to and including death. But they do not include hypothyroidism.

would be a definite negative on that. You could however contract hypothyroidism after the surgery and it would be absolutely unrelated because of their separate functions

two different problems. ask the surgeon.

I've NEVER heard of that. I had bypass four years ago and had Hypothyroidism BEFORE the surgery.

Great story. Thanks for sharing. 2008 was a great year for me because I had WLS and I finally got myself back.

Wow. That is really moving. You picked an excellent, articulate endearing group of women to profile. I can’t wait to see the whole thing.

Would love to see …
Would love to see the entire documentary; some of the scenes were too dark to be seen very well. But love the stories and the idea. Thanks for telling ‘our’ story.

As someone who will …
As someone who will be 62 in August, the line that hit me the hardest is, “When I’m 62, I want to be lying on the beach, not in a hospital bed.” Me, too. That’s why I had lapband surgery 2 years ago. It may not be pretty, but I’ll be on the beach at 62, a lot slimmer than I was 2 years ago.

As a former …
As a former bulimarexic who went through recovery, I can relate to the issues and changes they are faced with. I think it’s great to do a film about this — especially to show the support of the Girls sticking together and helping each other. The operation concerns me — I hope they have psychotherapeutic support as well. There is no quick-fix to eating disorders. Congratulations on bringing it out into the public eye!

I have been “skinny …
I have been “skinny” all my life. Never had a weight “problem” or even a concern about my weight. Regardless, I can totally relate to the situations presented here. Watching made me aware of my own crazy ideas about weight. But really, it’s not about skinny me! For a change! It’s about fat people trying to make it in this world, just like all the rest of us. It’s a struggle worth knowing about.
