chubio, I saw on …
chubio, I saw on one of your videos, that you were seeing a personal trainer “after” you got your surgery. What would have happened if you saw the “PT” before you got the surgery, you could have saved yourself a lot of money. And if you say “i was seeing him before my surgery” if that’s true, why you kept on using him if you got no results, he must have not bee very good if that was the case.

I understand it as …
I understand it as a tool. and such. I too was over weight like i mentioned, i too felt the frustrations, disappointments, embarrassment, and what not for many years. Yeah it’s “hard” to achieve weight loss. I absolutely know i have more pride/confidence in myself now, compared to if i got weight loss surgery. Regard to your other post, if people consume a low calorie diet, with no results, gastric bypass won’t work, because that’s what it’s about.

Yes there are other …
Yes there are other factors that contirbute to weightloss/gain. Like you mentioned genetics. “theories” of slow metabolism, genetics, and so on. So if people are able to do a low”er” calorie diet, and not lose weight, gastric bypass won’t work for them, because that’s what gastric bypass is about “lower calories”

I understand it as …
I understand it as a “tool.” I know if you get gastric bypass and don’t change your habits, you’d gain the weight back. Like we mentioned it’s really about calories, which people have control of. Like i said too I was over weight. up to 380lbs. I too have struggled all my life, I too felt the frustrations, the disappointments, I know what it’s like I been on that road. The only difference is “i kept trying.” I don’t believe weight loss surgery is “necessary” unless you can’t move at all.

Granted, calories …
Granted, calories in-burned is the pared down equation, but medical conditions and genetics play a major role. My stepfather spent most of his life trying to gain weight. His fhtr died at 93 and his mthr is now 95 (both tall and skinny). My mother, who had diabetes (family history), PCOS, chronic ulcerative colitis, and a desk job for 45 yrs struggled w/weight. She had a VERY healthy diet and walked a lot. I saw a side-by-side picture of similar diets/behavior w/very different results.

The point was that …
The point was that surgery alone doesn’t cause the weight loss, so it’s not an extreme means to an easy road. It’s a tool that allows for success in a program that, from a realistic point of view, isn’t likely otherwise. It’s true that the premise of weight loss is simple, but simple isn’t synonymous w/easy, otherwise, there wouldn’t be a billion $ weight loss industry and a million people w/eating disorders, incl. bulimics and anorectics.

If you did those …
If you did those things in the first place, you wouldn’t be over weight. Exercise and diet, can reverse diabetes, avert an amputation, and regain health. If someone can “move”(expend energy aka burn calories) I don’t accept this type of surgery. It all boils down to caloric expeneture and consumption. This surgery makes your stomach smaller (you consume less calories). Can be done with out surgery.

Such surgery isn’t …
Such surgery isn’t a cop-ou. It requires diet & exercise pre- and post-surgery. The diet more stringently demands inclusion of/restricts certain foods than reg. diets do. It also mandates behaviors (sips only, no drink’g 1/2 bef/after meals, chew’g 20x). Statistically, unaided wt loss for some is unlikely & lost wt is likely to be regained. If surgery helps to regain health, reverse diabetes, avert an amputation, etc, why would it be begrudged?

Glad you feel …
Glad you feel better, and you’re doing better. But i still think surgery is a cop out. Yes i have been over weight over 150lbs over weight. i am down 90lbs now. I don’t know what else to say, so i won’t say anything else.

good for you man. …
good for you man. I am also trying to lose lots of weight. I need to lose about 120 pounds. A lot of my weight is muscle since I was a football player. My lower body is all solid, not an ounce of fat. I just need to lose my mid section. It will take about a year, 10 pounds a month is what im guessing. I just started on this journey today, so by next August I should be where I want to be weight wise. Peace

Don thanks for …
Don thanks for sharing your story. Considering WLS myself and find your videos encouraging. I notice you don’t dwell too much on what you eat or the problems you’ve had in that respect. I guess that is intentional, keeps yourself in a positive frame of mind. This is a big mystery for me and others , perhaps in your next video you can share some of that. schedule of eating, portions, bite size (i guess this is more a problem with the lapband), food that cause problems for you. etc.
