ha ha I am sure he …
ha ha I am sure he wishes he did! No, there are alot of doctors around here who do this type of surgery so there are “deals” for patients who pay cash. I went to go to a Bariatric Center of Excellence Hospital (Trinity Medical Center in Carrollton) that was about an hour away from my house but that was ok to be able to get that price. I know for the same surgery if you had insurance, it was about $39,500. I only stayed 1 night and had no complications. They still have the same deal there.

    Your doctor must …
Your doctor must have some ownership in the hopital to get it that cheap in the states. Good for you! I think every room they put me in must be $5,000 just to enter. Geesh!

I do love my washer …
I do love my washer and dryer. We dragged it here from MI. I like how you can have them side by side or stacked. I had a Bosch before but the opening was too small and it took forever to dry anything. I even had them out 3 times to look at it. And Bosch is suppose to be the cats meow. Uh-uh, I’ll take Duet anyday.

Isn’t it amazing? I should be a poster child for making it through all the hoops to have bariatric surgery.

    The insurance …
The insurance company seems to be OK, it’s the doctors office and Anesthesiologist that is asking for more money from me. I haven’t heard back from the billing department yet. They are probably going “Oh-oh” right now.

    The hospital …
The hospital charges are absolutely crazy. They did accept what the insurance company would allow. Maybe they ask for the stars but accept only the moon. I think the hospitals try to rip everyone off including the insurance companies.

    My sleeve surgery …
My sleeve surgery was $11,990 in Texas because I paid cash. It included everything and all the follow-ups and any needed tests for a year.

    Yeah, isn’t it …
Yeah, isn’t it funny how vague ‘hosptial services’ is sometimes? It is astounding what they charge. Geesh. Thanks for sharing. I am sorry you are having these billing hiccups! Persistance and deep breathes, and phone calls.

    But I was quoted …
But I was quoted $16,000 including EVERYTHING. I made sure of it. April only paid $10,000 in Houston. Maybe they are billing your isurance more for some reason…but that $41,000 for the hospital is outrageous. I wonder if they are justifying it based on the other little extra’s you had. Thank goodness for your insurance!

    Holy Cow! Over …
Holy Cow! Over $59,000? Really? I paid $10,500 in Mexico. Granted it was cash…but my doctor here quoted me $16,000 including everything….cash. Even with the little extras it should have been under $20,000. I know you had dosme extra procedures, but it sounds outrageously expensive to me. Where do you live?

    With BCBS my …
With BCBS my deductable is 500 dollars and my co-pay is 1500 dollars. Once that is met then surgery is covered. The confusing part of this is in reality my deductable is only 250 and my co-pay 750 because where I work has contracted through a separate employee benefits agency and they reimburse half of the co-pay and deductable which is good.

    The problem is that …
The problem is that your surgeon’s office bill may not be the first one your insurance gets, so your insurance company applies the 20% to every bill it gets until you hit the $3,000. But since your surgeon insisted on it up front, you now get to deal with phone calls and hassles to get it all straightened out. Good luck with that!
